Memorial Day

May 23, 2014 by Bob M

1942109411_4761ca8541On the last Monday in May, Memorial Day occurs and while it has come to signify the beginning of the summer season, it is also the time when Americans remember our soldiers. Originally named Decoration Day, a reference to a tradition of decorating the graves of the Confederate dead, Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868 by General John Logan and observed for the first time on May 30th of that same year.  The somber occasion came to serve as a gesture of healing after the Civil War.

We at Spinweld would like to take a moment to honor and remember the soldiers that died in military service. On Monday, May 26, 2016 Spinweld will be closed in recognition of Memorial day and will resume regular business hours on Tuesday May 27th.

A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.
